Calligraphy Writing

To finish off our typography trifecta project, we took on the challenge of Calligraphy. Since I have quite a few left handers, we had to watch some videos on how to hold the pen and turn the paper. We all got it figured out, but everyone has their challenges with each project and we persevered.

For this project I came across an awesome website that gave FREE downloads of calligraphy practice sheets and she (Katrina Alana) even has a youtube channel... AWESOME RESOURCE!

After more than a few days of practice and even more videos... we finished. They were very proud of their work and it shows. It's always rewarding to see them happy with a finished project and want to do another one :)~

So for this lesson, I supplied a hearty list of items to choose from. I picked some things that would be fun and different for them to write.

I had a few guidelines they needed to adhere to, but they were free to complete the assignment with their own creative license.

Must Haves:

  • Start with pencil (very light) then move to markers or colored pencil

  • Add images that relate to the list item you chose

  • Fill the page (always use your space)

  • Can be in color or black and white

  •
**No pencil should be seen on your final piece**
