Dreamtime Art

This project was completed by my 8th and 9th graders, during their art elective class.

I introduced them to the Aborigines of Australia. We looked at images of their work and really got into their Dreamtime style. Dreamtime is one of the most common stories told in dot paintings, Aboriginal creation story. It is fitting since the pictures and the music all have a dreamy quality to them.

For this project, we used acrylic paint, neutral colors only. Some student brought brighter colors to use. We used sticks for our dots (yes, sticks). I went hiking and clipped a lot of twigs into small sticks. They worked out great and it allowed the students to really get into the project.
