Art Elective - Free Choice

The art elective class is new to our schedule this year. The class ranges from 8th grade to 12th grade.

I wanted to give them the opportunity to create something they wanted to for their final project. I gave them a few options to choose from so they could have a starting point. I had students choose from all categories.

Their choices were: Re-Do a Project:

Choose one of the past projects to redo. The project must be one you have previously turned in. Your score for your re-do project will only count for your final project grade, it will not replace the previous grades.

Imaginative Response Art:

Choose one of the art projects below to create in the medium of your choice.
Create a 2-point perspective drawing of your ideal future for Dallas
Incorporate cross-hatching to create value
Create an animal avatar for yourself
Include the animal’s habitat as a background
Write a caption for the drawing that explains why this animal’s characteristics fit your personality
Fashion Design Challenge
Create a detailed color design of at least two of the following for yourself: a completely unique style shoe; a hairstyle that doesn’t exist; or a futuristic jacket
Kinetic Art Mobile
Create a mobile in the style of Alexander Calder
3D Design
Create a sculpture that demonstrates sustained investigation of a specific visual idea

Still Life Drawing:

Create a still-life drawing from a still-life setup that you’ve constructed with objects. Include a minimum of three objects in your drawing with a ground plane and background. You may draw these in either pencil or charcoal. Include a photograph of your still-life.
