What's In Your Head?

Teacher Example

The 11th graders really enjoyed this project. They felt that it allowed them to draw what they wanted, things that they were interested in. This allowed them to make it a more personal project.

So, I started them off with creating a list of 25 - 50 items that describe you or things you enjoy.

Are you: Focused? Musical? Funny? Dependable? Flighty? Spacey? Numerical? Cautious? Organized? Fashionable?

Do you enjoy: shopping, eating, watching tv, listening to music, reading, sleeping, video games, sports, working out

From there, they chose a head they wanted to start with and they could add to it as they felt necessary. I gave them a few different heads to choose from, bald, with hair, long hair and ponytail for the girls.

They could add things on the outside as well. They drew or traced the head silhouette in their sketchbook, and began drawing their items they listed.

I really encouraged them to keep thinking of things they liked. Once they started drawing their items, a lot of them kept adding things they didn't think of initially.

The final piece needed to be in either black and white or full color.

My example is shown above.
